Bad Boys Are The Best
By Tes Randle Jolly

ATVs and hunting. Like many hunters I’ve have had a love/hate relationship from the first one I owned. I love how an ATV takes me to otherwise inaccessible places but I hate how wildlife becomes conditioned to associate the engine noise, gas and exhaust fumes with danger. I’ve witnessed deer clearing a greenfield on numerous occasions at the first sound of an ATV in the distance. Thankfully, Bubba Kaiser and Joe Palermo put their skills to work and through trial and error created the outstanding Bad Boy Buggy, the first ever electric, 4WD ATV workhorse that’s so quiet I heard Texas Rios gobbling and an ill-tempered rattlesnake buzzing while driving the vehicle.

Rio Grande Turkey Hunting

First of all, never go to Texas without tweezers. It is true, everything sticks, stings or bites. Everywhere I tried to sit down when turkeys were coming in, had sharp pointy objects ready to jab into my skin. There was also no shortage of skunks. We never got sprayed, but many tails were raised and ready.

My first trip to Texas for wild hogs was quite an experience. The hunt was sponsored by Bad Boy Buggies of Natchez, MS and several outdoor writers were in camp. I have been hog hunting once before in Florida and never even saw a hog, but in Texas there were plenty.

Chasing Rio's With The Bad Boys

Sometimes it’s better not to think about things too much, but that’s hard to do when you’re spending a lot of time in a turkey blind. As I hope for a Rio Grande I mostly think about all the great people who are part of this hunt.
